We are up on the 5th floor of Lotus House. If you know New Marine Lines, you know it gets quite crowded around here, especially with the station so close by. 33-A is an old building, but it does the job for us at Spectrum Internaional Pvt. Ltd. The elevator is sometimes a bit slow, so a few of us just take the stairs if we aren't carrying heavy files. Our office is full of desks pushed together and shelves that probably have too many folders on them. We spend a lot of time on the phones and staring at computer screens. Because we deal with international stuff, the hours can be a bit strange. Sometimes I’m still here when the sun goes down over the city buildings, talking to someone in a completely different time zone. It gets quiet in the halls then. We have a small corner where we make coffee, which is basically what keeps us going through the afternoon slump. There’s always someone coming in or out with papers to sign or packages to send off. It’s not a very big space for the amount of work we try to cram into it, but we make it work. Outside, you can hear the horns from the street below, which just becomes background noise after you’ve worked here for a couple of months. We don't have a big lobby or anything, just our name on the door and a lot of work.
