Sony Gifts N Awards

Sony Gifts N Awards is situated at 311 Abdul Rehman Street. You have to look up to find us because we are on the first floor, right above Sony Plastics. The stairs are a bit narrow and steep, but once you get up here, it’s a different world from the busy street outside. We have shelves filled with all kinds of trophies, shields, and those wooden plaques people give at office parties. It’s a lot of work to keep the trophies shiny since the dust from the street always finds its way through the windows. We spend many hours sitting at the back table working on the engraving machine. Sometimes the smell of the plastic or metal being cut is quite strong. We do a lot of small jobs for local schools and sports clubs around here. It gets really hectic during the end of the school year when everyone wants their medals at the same time. We don't have a big fancy showroom, just our work area and the display cases. Sometimes the lights flicker when we turn on the heavy machines, but we’ve gotten used to it. People usually find us by word of mouth or because they were shopping downstairs for plastic goods. It is a simple business where we just focus on getting the names spelled right on the awards and making sure the base is glued on straight.
