Being in Mumbai, things are always moving fast. S.I.W.S. N.R. Swamy College Of Commerce And Economics is right in the middle of it all in the 400031 area. It’s an old building, you can see the history in the hallways. We have so many students coming in for commerce and economics classes every single day. The stairs are always crowded between lectures. People come from all over, some taking the local train for an hour just to get here. Our office staff is usually buried under heaps of admission forms or exam papers. It’s a lot of work keeping track of everyone. The library is probably the quietest place, though even there you hear the city traffic outside. We don’t have a lot of space for a big campus because it’s Mumbai, so every corner is used for something. Students hang out near the entrance or in the canteen when they aren’t in class. The professors have been here for a long time and they know the syllabus inside out. We deal with the usual problems like monsoon leaks or broken desks, but we fix them when we can. It’s just a regular place where young people come to get their degrees and move on to jobs in the city. There is no big secret to how we run things, just showing up every morning and opening the gates. We keep it running and hope for the best results each semester for our students.
