Silver Earth Studio Private Limited is tucked away in the middle of Mumbai’s Champa Gully. If you’ve ever walked through the Laxmidas Khimji Market, you know how packed it gets. We are at 146/156. It’s a wild place to work because there is so much energy and noise right outside the door. People are constantly moving cloth bales and shouting to each other across the narrow lanes. Our studio is a bit of an escape from all that chaos, though it’s still pretty cramped. We do our creative work here amongst the stacks of paper and old furniture. It’s not the kind of place with a lobby or a receptionist. You just walk in and see us working. We like being in this part of Mumbai because it feels real. There’s a lot of history in these old market buildings. Sometimes the lift doesn’t work and we have to climb the stairs, but that’s just how it is in this neighborhood. We are just a few folks who like making things. We drink a lot of cutting chai from the stall downstairs. The lighting in the office isn't the best, but we’ve got our lamps and our screens. We don’t really bother with titles or big meetings. We just talk across the room when we need something. It’s a messy, busy, and honest way to run a studio in the heart of the city. We have been here for a few years and have gotten used to the crowds and the noise.
