Shukla Infotech

Our place, Shukla Infotech, is situated in Jawahar Nagar, over in Khar East. If you know Mumbai, you know Khar East is a mix of houses and small businesses all squeezed together. We are part of that mix. The shop is small and the entrance is right off the lane. It is the kind of place where you have to watch your step because of the uneven pavement outside. Inside, it is mostly just shelves and a work table. We spend a lot of time with our heads down, looking at laptop guts or trying to recover files from old hard drives. It is often humid, so we keep the door open to let some air in, though that also lets in the noise of the city and the occasional stray cat. We have a lot of history in this neighborhood. People know where we are and often stop by just to ask a quick question about their phones or computers. We do not have a big marketing budget or a shiny storefront. It is just a practical space where we do the work that needs doing. Sometimes the rain makes it hard for people to reach us, but we are usually here regardless. We keep a stack of old newspapers to clean the glass surfaces and a box of spare parts that we have collected over the years. It is a bit messy, but we know exactly where every single tool is located.
