Shree Tyre Services

Shree Tyre Services is a small shop over in Prabhadevi, right near the Raj Co-operative Housing Society. People usually find us because we are close to the Skoda showroom. It’s a dusty job, working with tires all day, but someone has to do it. The shop floor is usually covered in black marks and there’s always a few old tires leaning against the wall outside. We spend most of our time hunkered down on the ground, checking for punctures or swapping out old sets for new ones. The air compressor makes a loud humming noise that we’ve grown used to over the years. When it rains, the shop gets a bit damp and the work slows down, but normally it’s one car after another. We don’t have a fancy waiting room with air conditioning. People just stand around or sit on a plastic chair while we finish the work. It’s a simple setup. We know the regulars who live in the society and the drivers who pass through Prabhadevi every day. Sometimes people stop by just to check their air pressure before a long drive. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do. We just fix the wheels so people can get back on the road. It’s manual work, it’s messy, and our hands are rarely clean, but it’s what we know how to do well enough to keep going.
