Shaikh Gani

People around Maulana Azad Road probably know the spot. I'm Shaikh Gani and I've been at 162/105 for quite some time now. It’s a busy part of Mumbai, always something going on outside the door with the traffic and people walking by. I don't have some big fancy story to tell, honestly. I just show up every day and get things done. It’s how I was raised by my family. You learn how to handle the heat and the crowds after a few years here. Some days are slow, others you don't even have time for a proper chai. That’s just life in this city. I handle things myself mostly. If you walk down the road, you’ll see the shop. It isn't huge but it fits exactly what I need. I try to keep things organized but sometimes the paperwork piles up on my desk when I get busy. My neighbors are good people, we all look out for each other when things get tough. Sometimes customers come in asking for things I don't have in stock, and I just tell them straight. No point in lying or making excuses. I’ve lived in Maharashtra all my life and Mumbai is where I ended up staying because I like the energy. I like the routine of it. Getting the heavy shutters up in the morning is when my day officially starts. It’s honest work and I don’t plan on changing much about how I do things. Most people around here call me by name and that’s enough.
