We are up on the second floor of Shahbaug Number 1. The building is on Behramji Gamagia Road, which is quite close to Pedder Road. It’s an older building with high ceilings and those big windows that let in a lot of light, though they can be a bit stiff when you try to open them. Our office is full of files and old wooden furniture that has been around for decades. We’ve been here a long time, and it shows in the way the floorboards creak when you walk over to the window. We handle trading and investment matters for a small group of regular clients who have been with us for years. It’s mostly quiet work, involving lots of reading through reports and making phone calls. We don't have any flashy signs or modern decor. It feels more like someone’s study than a corporate headquarters. Sometimes the traffic on Pedder Road gets so loud you can hear the horns even up here on the second floor. We usually have a stack of newspapers on the main table and a pot of tea going in the corner. The staff is just a handful of us who have worked together for a long time. We know each other’s families and stories. It’s a comfortable place to spend the day. We don't go in for big marketing or anything like that. People know where we are and what we do. It’s a traditional way of running things.
