We run Santoshi Mata Patchworks And Textiles down in Worli. Our shop is on the ground floor of the GSM building on D S Road. It’s right in the middle of everything in the 400018 area of Mumbai. The shop is usually full of scraps of cloth and rolls of different textiles. We do a lot of patchwork, so there are always needles and thread sitting around on the counters. It’s not the neatest place, but we know where everything is. The ground floor location is good because we don't have to carry heavy textile rolls up any stairs. People walking by often peek in to see what we are working on. We don't have any marketing people or a big sales team. It’s just us handling the day-to-day stuff. Sometimes it gets really dusty with all the fabric fibers in the air. We just sweep it out and keep going. Worli is a fast-paced place, but inside the shop, things move at our own speed. We take our time with the patchwork because it needs attention. We’ve been here for years, and the building has become like a second home. We don't have any grand plans to expand or anything. We just like what we do and we like being in this part of town. It’s simple work but it keeps us busy from morning till night. The door sticks a little when it's raining, but you just have to give it a good push to get inside.
