Ppg Asian Paints Private Limited is tucked away inside the Dani Wooltex Compound on Vidyanagari Marg, over in Kalina, Santacruz East. Being in an old compound like this means we have a lot of space, but it also means the buildings have that worn-in, industrial feel. We handle a lot of paint here, so the smell of solvents and fresh pigment is something you notice the moment you walk through the gate. There are rows upon rows of paint tins stacked on pallets, and we have forklifts moving back and forth across the concrete floors. It is a busy warehouse environment where everyone has a specific job to do, whether it is mixing colors or checking the shipping manifests. The traffic on CST Road nearby can be terrible, so we try to get our deliveries out as early as possible to avoid the worst of it. We do not have a shiny office for visitors; most of the space is dedicated to storage and the actual handling of the paint products. The walls have a few accidental splashes of color here and there, which is just part of the job. It is a noisy, active place with people shouting over the sound of the machinery and trucks backing into the loading docks. We are just a group of workers making sure the right colors get to the right places in the city. It is hard work, but we are used to the pace.
