If you walk out of the Santacruz railway station on the west side, you’ll find us pretty easily. We are right there at 49, Gulab Baug, which is a spot most locals know well. Sankalchand Pukhraj & Co. has been operating out of this same space for longer than some of us have been alive. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside sometimes, especially when we get a lot of deliveries arriving at once or when several people come in to ask questions. The fans hum all day long to keep the heat away, but it still gets warm in the afternoons. We don't have a big marketing team or a polished corporate office. It's just a bunch of us who know the business inside and out. We handle the daily tasks, write things down in our ledgers, and make sure everything is where it should be. The station area is always noisy with the trains and the hawkers, but it feels right to be in the middle of all that energy. Sometimes the rains make it hard to get to the door, but we always open up on time. We take pride in just being a reliable fixture in the neighborhood. People stop in just to say hello even if they don't need anything that day. We keep the shop running the old-fashioned way because that is what we know works for us and our neighbors. It’s nothing more or less than that.
