S K Somaiya College Of Arts, Sci & Comm

Our college is tucked away in Tilaknagar, right in the Chembur area of Mumbai. If you know the Hanuman Chhaya building, that’s where some of our administrative work happens, specifically in Building 104. It’s a lively place, especially during the admission season when the hallways are full of parents and students asking about Arts or Science streams. We have been part of this neighborhood for a long time, watching students graduate and move on to bigger things. The staff here are mostly local people who take the train or bus every day. We spend a lot of time on paperwork, exam schedules, and just making sure the classes run on time. It gets pretty loud during the breaks, but that is just part of the atmosphere in a place like S K Somaiya. We don't have a big marketing team writing stuff for us, we just focus on the teaching and the day-to-day running of the departments. Between the Commerce classes and the Science labs, there is always something going on. Sometimes the printers jam right when we need to hand out papers, or the canteen gets too crowded, but we make it work. It feels like a small community here in Chembur. We try to keep things simple for the kids who come from all over the city. It’s just a regular college where people study hard and we try to keep the doors open and things moving.
