S. K. Seth Jewellers

If you know Zaveri Bazar, you know how hectic Sheikh Memon Street gets. We are tucked away in the Giriraj Building, up on the second floor in shop number 201. S. K. Seth Jewellers has been in this particular spot for a long time. The stairs up to the shop are a bit narrow, and if you're coming here for the first time, you might have to ask someone which way to go because the building has a lot of little corners. Once you’re inside shop 201, it’s a lot quieter than the street below. We mostly deal with jewelry, and there’s always something that needs to be polished or looked at under the glass. The air in the bazar is always full of different smells and sounds, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We spend our days behind the counter or at the small back table. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful not to trip over each other when things get busy. We aren't big on decorations; we just have the stuff we need to do the job. Some days are really slow and we just sit and talk about whatever is in the newspaper. Other days, it’s one person after another and we barely have time to drink our tea. It’s just how life is in a place like this. We like being part of the bazar atmosphere.
