Rushi Sarmalkar

My name is Rushi Sarmalkar and I’m based at the Shivsagar Co-Op Housing Society in Andheri East. Specifically, I’m at Flat No 311 on the 3rd floor of the 16/B building in New Mhada Colony. Andheri is a hectic part of Mumbai, as anyone who lives here can tell you. There’s always noise and movement. I’ve been in this society for quite some time. My workspace is just part of my home. It’s simple and doesn’t have any of those modern office features you see in the magazines. I’ve got my table, a chair, and my files. It’s a bit cramped because the flat isn't huge, but it works for me. I spend most of my day here, dealing with whatever needs to be handled. The neighbors are mostly families, so there’s a lot of life around. I don’t have a big company structure or anything like that. It’s just me making sure things get finished. Finding the place can be a bit tricky because the Mhada Colony is quite big, but once you find building 16/B, it’s easy enough. I don’t use any polished language to describe what I do. I just do it. It’s a real place with real dust and real work happening. Living in Mumbai means you have to be practical, and this setup is as practical as it gets. I’m happy with how things are. Sometimes I listen to the radio while I work to keep focus.
