Riddhi Siddhi Surgical Co. is located on Babu Genu Road, which is part of the whole Princess Street area. If you’ve ever been down those lanes, you know how crowded they get with people and goods moving everywhere at all hours. Our building is called Om Shanti, and we occupy the space at numbers 42 and 44. It’s an old building, the kind that has a lot of character and maybe a few drafts here and there when it rains. Working in the surgical trade in this part of Mumbai means there is never really a dull moment. The street outside is always full of handcarts and delivery guys shouting to get through. Inside our space, the shelves are packed with all sorts of medical supplies and stainless steel equipment. It smells a bit like a warehouse, which I guess it mostly is. We spend a lot of time checking inventory and making sure everything is where it should be for the next order. The desks are a bit cluttered with papers and old registers. We don’t have a big neon sign outside, but the locals and regulars know exactly where we are. It’s a tight-knit community of businesses around here. We usually eat lunch together at the back of the shop, just talking about the day's events. The pace is fast, but we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the market over the years. It’s just a regular office.
