Rabindra Hazari

At Fort Josh Market 72A, the day starts pretty early for us. By the time we open up Rabindra Hazari, the rest of the market is already waking up. You can hear the metal shutters going up and people calling out to each other. Our spot at 72A isn’t very big, but it’s right in the middle of everything. We have to move things around every morning just to make enough space to walk. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and shifting things. We don't have any big mission statements or anything like that. We just try to get the tasks done before the sun goes down. The light in the market is a bit dim in the evenings, so we have these bright bulbs that hum a little. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here. We swap stories about the customers or the prices of things. Sometimes the rain leaks in a little near the back door, so we have to keep an eye on that during the monsoon. It’s just a regular workplace with regular problems. We don’t try to be anything we’re not. Just a local business trying to keep things moving. We’ve been at this address for a long time and the walls have seen a lot of people come and go. It’s home for us during the day.
