Our office is based in the Marol area of Andheri East, right off Military Road in Mumbai. Most people used to know us as Reuters India, but now we go by the name 1 Thomson Reuters Erstwhile Reuters India P Ltd. Even though it sounds like a big international name, our local office here feels very much like a part of the neighborhood. It’s not a polished corporate headquarters. It’s a working office where people are busy with data and news feeds all day. We have rows of desks and quite a few filing cabinets that have seen better days. The air conditioning is always on because Mumbai heat is no joke. Sometimes the elevators in the Ng Co-operative Housing Society are a bit slow, so we end up taking the stairs. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or motivational posters. We just have a job to do and we get on with it. There’s a lot of noise from Military Road, but once you’re inside C 406, it’s mostly just the sound of typing and low conversations. We grab lunch from the local stalls nearby or bring dabbas from home to eat in the small break area. It’s a very standard Mumbai work life. We’ve been in this spot for years and it’s just where we happen to do our daily work. We are at C 406 Ng Chs, and the area is always buzzing with energy and rickshaws passing by throughout the day.
