Quafila

We are right in the middle of all the noise in Malad West, situated on the Gandhi Bazaar Main Road near the Chincholi Bunder signal. If you know that intersection, you know how loud and busy it is. The traffic never really seems to stop, and there is always someone honking nearby. Our shop, Quafila, is right there in the thick of it. It is a practical place, not meant for lounging around for hours. People usually pop in while they are doing their other shopping at the bazaar or waiting for a bus. We see all sorts of people—commuters, housewives, students, and workers from the nearby shops. The dust from the road is a constant battle, but we keep our space as tidy as we can. It is a very local atmosphere. We do not use any big words to describe ourselves because we are just a part of the daily grind for most people. We open up early and stay late until the signal starts getting a bit quieter at night. Sometimes the rain makes everything a bit of a mess outside, but that is just Mumbai for you. We have been here long enough to know the rhythms of the street and the faces of the people who walk by every morning. We just provide what we provide and try to be helpful when someone asks for directions or needs a quick break.
