Pustak Raja is our little book spot on Janjikar Street. We are up on the 1st Floor, specifically at 107/108 in building No. 62. The street outside is always packed with people and carts, so it’s a bit quieter once you get upstairs. We have stacks of books everywhere, and honestly, sometimes it’s hard to find exactly what you’re looking for right away. We try to keep things organized, but new stock comes in and just ends up in piles. It smells like old paper in here, which I personally like. We’ve been in this building for years and know all the shopkeepers downstairs. Most of our customers are students or people looking for specific titles they can’t find in the big modern malls. We don't have fancy displays or air conditioning that works all the time. Just wooden shelves and books. Sometimes we sit and chat with the regulars about what they’re reading while the ceiling fan hums. It’s a slow pace of life inside the shop compared to the chaos on Janjikar Street. We stay open until late evening most days. If you’re coming by, look for the narrow stairs. It’s not the easiest climb with a heavy bag, but we’re here at the top. We deal with all sorts of languages and subjects. It's a lot of dusting and moving boxes around, but we enjoy being surrounded by books every day and seeing what people are interested in reading.
