Ravi Book Manufacturing

Our workshop is down on Halavpool Road in Kurla West, right in the middle of Sunrise Estate. If you’ve ever walked down this road, you know it’s always packed with trucks and people moving things around. We spend our days surrounded by paper and the sound of the binding machines. It’s not the quietest place to work, but you get used to the rhythm of it after a few weeks. We make all kinds of books here. Sometimes it’s notebooks, other times it’s stuff for schools or local offices. The smell of ink and glue is pretty much stuck in our clothes by the time we head home. We don’t have a big front office or anything polished. It’s mostly just the machines and stacks of paper waiting to be cut or folded. We work pretty hard to stay on top of the orders that come in. Some days the humidity makes the paper act funny, and we have to adjust how we do things. Kurla is a busy place, and being in the estate means there’s always something going on next door. We know the other guys on the road, and sometimes we help each other out when a machine breaks down or something. It’s just regular work for us. We aren't trying to be the biggest place in Mumbai, just keeping the production going every day. It gets dusty and loud, but we like the feeling of finishing a big batch of books before the weekend.
