Pratidin Prakashani Ltd

Pratidin Prakashani Ltd is run out of Flat No 044 in the Hrishikesh Apartment in Dadar West. It’s an old building and we’ve got books and papers stacked up in almost every corner of the room. Being in Dadar means it is always crowded outside but we like being central. We do a lot of the editing and planning right here at the kitchen table sometimes because space is tight. Publishing isn't as fast as people think. It takes a lot of sitting around and checking lines. We talk to printers and authors on the phone all day. Sometimes the delivery guys have a hard time finding the flat number because the stairs are a bit narrow. We don’t have a big corporate office with glass walls. It’s just a home-style setup where we put books together. Most days we are just drinking tea and looking at manuscripts. The Hrishikesh Apartment is a quiet enough place once you get inside. We have been doing this for a while now and the shelves are getting heavy. We don't really do much advertising. Most people who know us just come by the flat or call. It’s a simple operation. We focus on getting the words right and making sure the print quality is okay. It’s a lot of small details that most people don’t notice. We just enjoy being part of the local scene here in Dadar West.
