Prapti Texco

We are over in Kurar Village, tucked away in Malad East. Prapti Texco is a busy spot. There’s always rolls of fabric moving in and out. The heat in Mumbai can be a lot, especially in the afternoons when we are loading stuff. I’ve worked here for a bit now. We aren't a giant factory. It’s more of a local operation where everyone knows each other’s names. Sometimes the noise from the street gets in, but we just keep working. Boxes are stacked up pretty high near the back wall. We try to keep it organized, but when a big shipment comes, things get a bit crowded for a day or two. My hands are usually dusty from the textiles. It's just part of the job. People from around the neighborhood stop by to ask about what we have in stock. We don’t have a fancy showroom. You just come in, see the goods, and we talk. It’s straightforward. Most of us live nearby, so the commute isn't too bad, which is rare for Mumbai. The lights inside are a bit bright, but it helps us see the threads clearly. We’ve been at this address for a good while. If you know the 400097 area, you probably know the lane we are on. It’s a tight squeeze for the trucks sometimes, but we make it work. Every evening we lock up the shutters and head home, ready to do it again the next day.
