We have been here at Fort Lalwani Industrial Estate for quite some time now. Dealing with cases is mostly what fills our days, though sometimes the office feels a bit cramped with all the paperwork stacked up on the desks. It isn't a fancy law firm with glass walls or anything like that. People come in with their problems, we sit down, and we try to sort through the legal mess. Being in an industrial estate means it gets noisy outside sometimes, but we are used to the sound of trucks and machinery by now. My desk has a permanent ring from my tea cup. Prakash usually handles the court appearances while I stay back to manage the files. It's just a job, really. Some days are longer than others, especially when a hearing gets pushed back. I remember when the building next door was still under construction. Now it’s full of offices too. We spend a lot of time just waiting for the postman to bring the latest notices. Sometimes the mail gets mixed up because the estate is so big. I have to walk over to the other side to trade letters with the textile guys. It’s a bit of a walk, but it gets me out of the office for ten minutes. We have a small fridge in the corner that hums too loudly, but it keeps our water cold. That’s important in the summer months. I mostly use a pen that leaks a little, so my fingers are often stained blue.
