Pooja Shetye

Living in Malad West, specifically in the Asmita Jyoti society, gives you a very specific view of Mumbai life. I am Pooja Shetye, and I have been operating from my home at D4/64 for a while. It is a busy neighborhood with plenty of noise from Ve Road, but you get used to it after a few months. My day starts with the sound of the milkman and ends when the society gates finally quiet down at night. I do my work right from my desk here, trying to stay organized amidst the usual household chaos of a family home. It is not a corporate setup at all. Mostly, I just talk to people on the phone or handle documents that need finishing before the next day. Some days are slow, and I might spend more time chatting with the neighbors near the lift than actually typing on my laptop. Other days, I am stuck at the table for hours without even a tea break. There is no big philosophy behind what I do. I just try to be helpful and get the job done right so I can relax in the evening with a bit of peace. The society has a lot of families, so there is always someone around if you need a hand or just a bit of news. It feels like a real community here, not just a bunch of buildings. I like that I don't have to commute far to get things started. Everything I need is right here in this small flat in Malad West.
