Parkin Brothers is run out of unit 5 in Bethlam Apartments, which is right on S.V.P. Road. It’s a bit of an older building, but it’s sturdy and serves us well. We aren’t some massive corporation with hundreds of employees. It’s a small, family-style business. Using an apartment as an office gives the place a bit of a lived-in feel, which we actually prefer over a cold, modern office block. There are books and files everywhere, and the furniture has seen better days, but it’s comfortable. We spend our time handling whatever comes our way, usually from folks who know us in the neighborhood. S.V.P. Road is always humming with activity, so there's never a dull moment looking out the window. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy website. We just rely on doing our work properly so people come back. It’s a quiet life for the most part, punctuated by the occasional rush of work. We handle our own chores around the office and make our own tea. There’s no hierarchy here; we just all chip in. Sometimes we get behind on the filing, but we catch up eventually. It’s an honest way to make a living. We’ve been at this address for a long time and don't plan on moving anywhere else anytime soon. It's where we belong and we know the neighbors well.
