If you are looking for Padmavati Traders, you have to go up to the 1st Floor of Building No. 37 on Shaikh Memon Street. We are in Room No 105, right across from the MTNL Telephone Exchange. Being in Zaveri Bazar means the streets are always narrow and packed with people. Getting up the stairs can be a bit of a squeeze if someone else is coming down with a heavy bag. Our room isn't very large, but it’s where we do all our business. Kalbadevi is a frantic place, especially during the festive seasons, but inside our office, it’s a bit more manageable. We spend most of our time on the phone or talking to other traders who stop by for a chat and some tea. The building is old, and you can see the history in the walls and the wooden door frames. We don't have fancy signs or bright lights. Mostly, people find us by word of mouth or because they’ve been coming to this building for decades. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons, so the old ceiling fan stays on all day long. We just handle our trades, keep our books as straight as we can, and try to navigate the chaos of the Zaveri Bazar every single day. It’s a bit of a grind, but it’s what we know and we’ve been doing it for a long time. The tea man comes by three times a day, which is the only real break we get.
