Our office is tucked away in the Colaba Market area, which is always an experience. We are at Dhobi Chawl on Lala Nigam Road, number 4. It’s Plot 58, and we are right on the ground floor, which is Floor G. Being in Colaba means it’s never quiet. You’ve got the market sounds, people shouting, and the general hum of Mumbai right outside the door. Optiminastic Infomedia has been operating from this spot for a bit. It’s an old building, like a lot of stuff in South Mumbai, so it has that specific character you can’t really find in the newer suburbs. There’s always someone passing by the window. Sometimes the humidity in Mumbai gets to be a bit much, especially in this part of town, so our fans are always running at full speed. We do a lot of info and media work here. It’s mostly us sitting around on plastic chairs or old office furniture, hammering away at keyboards. We don’t go in for all that corporate talk. We are just a bunch of people who like working in the heart of the city. The tea guy knows exactly how we like our chai by now. Sometimes the rain floods the road a little, but we just roll up our trousers and keep going. It’s just how things are at Dhobi Chawl. We're part of the furniture in Colaba Market now, and we don't see ourselves moving anywhere else anytime soon. It just works for us.
