Okate Laxman

I'm over in Sidhivinayk Nagar, Room No. C-2. It’s in Bombay, or Mumbai as everyone calls it now, but for some of us, it’s still the same old place. This room is where I stay and where I do my work. It’s not very big, but it’s enough for me. Living and working in the same spot means I don't have to deal with the local trains every single morning, which is a blessing if you know what the 400075 area is like. I've been Okate Laxman to everyone in this building for years. People stop by sometimes just to say hello. It’s a busy neighborhood, lots of noise and kids playing outside. My setup is very basic. I have a small table, a few ledgers, and a chair that's seen better days. I don't see the point in buying fancy furniture when this works just fine. There’s a lot of stuff happening in Mumbai all the time, but inside C-2, it’s mostly just me getting through the day's tasks. I don’t have any big slogans or anything. I just take the work as it comes. Sometimes there is a lot, sometimes it is quiet. That’s just the nature of it. I’ve been in Maharashtra a long time and I like the people here. We help each other out when we can. It’s a simple life, and I’m okay with that.
