Our little spot is in the German Darshan Building on Tardeo Road. Mumbai is a city that’s always in a hurry, and Tardeo is no different. We are right across from Oh! Calcutta, which is a big landmark around here. The tiffin room is exactly what it sounds like—a place for quick meals and tea. We don't have a lot of space, so people often end up sitting close to each other or standing by the counter. The air is always thick with the smell of frying and fresh tea leaves. We have a couple of guys who have been making the same snacks for years, and they can do it with their eyes shut. We get a lot of office workers coming in for a break and delivery drivers looking for a quick bite. The noise from the street is constant, with the buses and taxis constantly honking. We just keep our heads down and serve the food as it comes out. We don't have a fancy website or anything. We just have a chalkboard with the daily items. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front door during July, but we just put a bucket there and keep going. It’s a humble place, and we like it that way because it feels like home to us. The floor gets a bit slippery when it’s busy, so we are always reminding people to watch their step. We usually run out of hot water by evening.
