Modern Ceramics is located at Plot No.48 on Nagdevi Street. It's right in the middle of the Nagdevi area, near Mohammed Ali Road. If you know Mumbai, you know this part of town is always packed with people and handcarts. Our shop is filled with ceramic pieces, tiles, and fittings. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside because we try to keep a lot of variety on the shelves. You can smell the cardboard and the faint scent of stone. We spend the day helping people find the right match for their bathrooms or kitchens. It’s a lot of carrying heavy boxes out to the street. The noise from Nagdevi Street is constant—horns, shouting, and the sound of iron wheels on the pavement. We don't have a polished showroom with fancy lighting. We have basic racks and some samples on the walls. People come to us because they know we have what they need in stock. We deal with contractors and homeowners alike. It’s honest work. We’ve been on this street for a long time. We know the other shop owners and the guys who deliver the goods. Sometimes we share a tea on the doorstep when there's a lull in customers. We don't do much advertising. The shop front and our location do the work for us. It’s just a standard ceramic shop in a very busy part of the city. We keep the shutters open until late evening most days.
