Milan Novelty

Milan Novelty has been a part of Khar West for a long time. This is one of those neighborhoods where the lanes are narrow and the trees provide a bit of shade over the old houses. Our shop is easy to miss if you are driving by too fast, as we don't have a massive neon sign or anything like that. We prefer to keep things simple. Inside, the shelves are packed with all sorts of things, and there is a specific smell of paper and old wood that hits you when you walk in. The floor is made of stone that stays cool even during the peak of summer, which is a relief for us. We spend most of our time standing behind the counter, talking to the locals who have been shopping with us since they were kids. It is nice to see the familiar faces every day. Khar has a very specific vibe, a mix of old Mumbai and newer, trendy spots, but we definitely fall into the older category. We don't use much technology here, preferring to do our calculations on a small calculator and writing down the sales in a big red book. The bell on the door rings every time someone enters, and that is the sound that defines our day. We aren't trying to grow into a massive chain; we are just happy being the local spot where people can find what they need without any trouble.
