Mascot Engineering Works

Out at the Chowpatty Muncipal Industrial Estate 2, you’ll find us at Mascot Engineering Works. It’s one of those old-school industrial units where the ceiling is high and the light is always a bit dim. We deal with heavy parts and big machines all day. It’s gritty work, and by the time we leave, our clothes are usually ruined. The estate itself is quite old, and you can see the wear and tear on the buildings. We’ve got a couple of lathes and some welding equipment that have seen better days but still get the job done. The floor is stained with oil spills from decades ago that nobody can quite clean up. We don't have a marketing department or even a proper sign sometimes if it falls down. Most people find us through word of mouth or because they’ve been coming here for twenty years. It’s hot in the summer and damp when it rains, but we just keep the machines running. We eat our lunch together at a small table in the corner, usually talking about the cricket score or the traffic. It’s just a regular workshop where we do what’s needed. There’s no mystery to it. We just handle the engineering stuff that comes our way at unit 2. We don't really bother with any bells or whistles. We just stay busy and keep the floor as clean as we can.
