Marudamalai Traders

Marudamalai Traders is located in the Anand Bhuvan building on the ground floor. We are right on Princess Street, near 17-Babu Genu Road. This is a very old and crowded part of the city. The streets are narrow and there are people everywhere. Being on the ground floor is a blessing because the stairs in these old buildings can be quite steep and difficult. We have a small space, but we make the most of it. There are boxes stacked almost to the ceiling in the back. The front is just a counter and a couple of stools. We’ve been here for years, and the building has a lot of character, even if the walls are a bit cracked. Princess Street is famous for being busy, so there is never a dull moment. We hear the shouts of vendors and the bell of the cycles all day long. It gets very hot in the summer, so we have a small table fan that we keep running. Most of our customers are people who have been coming to this area for decades. We know the other shopkeepers on the block and we often share tea in the afternoons. It’s a tight-knit community of traders. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just do business face-to-face and keep our books by hand. It’s the way things have always been done here and we don't plan on changing.
