Our office is in Jolly Bhavan No 2, specifically at room 409. New Marine Lines is a busy part of Mumbai, so the commute can be a bit of a headache every morning. Majuko India has been in this building for quite some time now. The elevator is usually slow, so some of us just take the stairs if we aren't carrying too much. Inside, it’s a typical Mumbai office space where we maximize every corner we have. You can see the old wooden cabinets and files everywhere. We do a lot of coordination work here. It gets a bit loud when everyone is on the phone at the same time. We can hear the street noise from outside, but after a while, it just becomes background hum. We aren’t really into the whole corporate polish thing. We’re just here to get our work done and head home. Most of the people working here have been friends for years. We usually share snacks in the afternoon while we go over the day’s tasks. It’s a lot of administrative stuff and making sure the numbers match up. Sometimes the monsoon makes things interesting with the leaks in the building, but we manage. It’s a solid place to work and we know the rhythms of the area well. It’s just how things are in this part of town. We keep things simple and try to stay organized amid all the chaos.
