We are Mahendra Exports and you’ll find us at Masjid Bunder West in the Mahesh Chambers building. The exact address is 391 Narshi Nath Road, Room 10. If you’ve ever been to Masjid Bunder, you know it’s one of the most crowded places in Mumbai. There are carts and people everywhere, and the smell of spices and goods is always in the air. Our office is on the tenth floor, which is a bit of a climb if the lift isn’t working, which happens more often than I’d like. It’s a small room packed with samples and files from years of trading. I’ve spent more hours in this chamber than I have at home some weeks. We deal with a lot of different people from all over, mostly over the phone or through messages. The noise from Narshi Nath Road never really stops, it’s like a constant hum that stays with you. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just me and a couple of assistants handling the orders and making sure things get to the docks on time. It’s a tough environment because everything moves so fast and there’s no room for mistakes. We just try to stay organized in the middle of all the chaos. It’s a traditional way of doing business that’s worked for us for a long time now and we keep it simple.
