Maharashtra Economic Development Council Research Centre

Our research centre is tucked away at 4 Belvedere Court on Maharshi Karve Road. It’s right there in Churchgate, which is a very active part of Bombay. Being at 148 Churchgate means we are close to the station and all the hustle of the city life. We spend our days looking into economic things for the Maharashtra Economic Development Council Research Centre. It’s a lot of data, numbers, and long reports, really. The building itself has that old Bombay feel to it, which we quite like. It’s not like those new glass towers you see everywhere in the suburbs now. We have stacks of papers and files because there is always something to study about how the state's economy is doing. People who work here have been doing this for a long time. We don’t really do much shouting about what we do, we just get on with the research and let the work move along. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy outside with the traffic and the thousands of people heading to the station, but inside it’s mostly just the sound of typing and people talking about various projects. We’ve been here in this part of the city for many years now. It’s a convenient spot for anyone coming in from different parts of Maharashtra state or even from outside India. We just keep our heads down and try to make sense of how the development is going around the country from our little corner here on Karve Road.
