M S Tata Consultancy Services Ltd has this office at 32 Vrundavan Chawl on Vallabhbhai Road. It is right in the heart of Vile Parle West in Mumbai. This is not one of those massive corporate towers you might expect; it is much more of a local neighborhood setting. Being in a chawl structure means we are very close to the everyday life of the area. You can hear the sounds of families nearby and the general bustle of the Vile Parle streets. We have been in this spot for a bit, and it has a very specific feel to it. It is simple and functional. There is no marble lobby or expensive artwork on the walls here. We just have our workstations and the basic things we need to get our consulting work finished. The road outside can get pretty cramped with cars and rickshaws, especially during the rush hours. We usually grab tea from the stall just down the street. It is a very human way to work, being tucked into a residential part of Mumbai like this. We do not try to act like we are in a fancy high-rise. We just come in, sit down at our desks, and handle the projects we have.
