Leela Gold Designs Ltd.

We are located in the Minerva Industrial Estate, which some people still call the Acme Estate. It’s on the third floor of the A-7 block. Sewree Bunder Road is a busy area with a lot of trucks and warehouses. Leela Gold Designs is where we do all our manufacturing work. It’s an industrial space, so it’s not meant to be pretty. We have rows of benches where the goldsmiths sit under bright lights. There’s always the sound of small hammers or the hum of the polishing machines. It’s a bit of a climb to the third floor if the lift is acting up, which it often does. We don't have a marketing team or fancy brochures to show people. We just focus on the jewelry designs we have to finish. The office part is just a couple of desks near the window where we keep the accounts. We get a lot of breeze from the sea since we're in Sewree, but it also means things get a bit rusty if we don't paint them often. We’ve been in this estate for years and know most of the other business owners nearby. We share tea and talk about how the market is doing. It’s a practical way to work. We aren't trying to be the biggest company, just trying to make sure every design is right. We usually stay until the last worker finishes their piece, then we lock up the heavy metal doors.
