Kushalchand Industries

Our place is in the Laxmi Industrial Estate on New Link Road. If you know Andheri, you know this area is always moving. Kushalchand Industries is at unit number 25. It’s an old-school industrial unit. We’ve got heavy machines that have been with us for a long time, and they still work better than the new stuff sometimes. We spend our days making various industrial parts. It’s greasy work, and our clothes usually show it by the end of the day. We don't have a marketing team or a PR person. If someone wants to buy from us, they just call or walk in. The office is up a narrow set of stairs, and it’s usually quite warm up there. We have a couple of old desks and a calendar from three years ago still hanging on the wall. It’s not that we’re lazy; we just don't care much for how the place looks as long as the products are right. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we all just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. It’s part of the life here. We’ve had the same workers for years, and we’re like a small family. We just do our work and go home. We have a tea break at four, and that is usually the highlight of the afternoon. Dealing with the heat and the noise is just part of the package for us in Andheri.
