Kim Pereira Fashion Designer

I have my small design space on Military Road in the Rajeev Gandhi Nagar area. It is right off the busy Hosur Road, so the sound of traffic is pretty much constant throughout the day. I call the business Kim Pereira Fashion Designer, but it is really just me and a couple of helpers working with cloth and thread. The studio is not a fancy boutique with bright lights and mirrors everywhere. It is a working room filled with rolls of fabric, sewing machines, and paper patterns pinned to the walls. Some days the floor is so covered in scraps of material that you can barely see the tiles. I spend a lot of time sketching out ideas or measuring people for their clothes. It is hard work and sometimes my back hurts from leaning over the cutting table for too long. People from the neighborhood often drop by to see what I am making or to ask for a small repair. I do not have a big website or a fancy office. I just rely on people talking to each other about my work. The morning light in the studio is the best time to get things done before it gets too hot. I handle everything from picking out the buttons to making sure the final stitch is straight. It is a busy life, and I am usually here late into the evening trying to finish an order. It is just a simple local business.
