Working out of Khar West on Ready Road means you’re always in the middle of everything. Our spot at 32 A is tucked away just enough that it’s not too loud, but you still get the constant hum of the city. Kedia Co has been here for a good while, and the space is a bit cramped if I’m being honest. We’ve got boxes piled up in the corners and the desks are pushed right against each other. When it rains in Mumbai, the water sometimes splashes under the door, so we have to keep some old rags handy. It’s just how it is in this part of town. The building itself is old, with those narrow staircases that make it hard to carry anything heavy up. We know the shopkeepers next door and the delivery boys who are always zipping past on their scooters. Sometimes we forget to eat lunch until four in the afternoon because there’s just a lot of small things to take care of. We use an old fan that rattles, and the phone rings more than it should. It’s a practical place, nothing fancy to look at. We keep our records in these thick binders that are starting to get worn out at the edges. It’s just us here, doing the work and trying to keep everything organized in the middle of all the Khar West madness.
