Our place, Karthik, is located over at Malad West, right at 8/A. If you live around here, you probably passed by us a hundred times. It’s not a very big place, just a decent spot where we serve food to the neighbors and anyone passing through. We've been at this for a good number of years now. I remember when this road was much quieter than it is today. Now, there are cars and bikes everywhere, but we’re still here doing the same thing. Usually, it's just a few of us working the kitchen and the front. We do mostly South Indian style stuff because that’s what we know best. Dosa, idli, the usual things people want for breakfast or a light dinner. We don’t put on any acts or try to look like those fancy restaurants you see at the mall. The tables are a bit old, and the fans make a bit of noise, but the food is hot and it fills you up. My dad used to run a small stall before we moved into this permanent spot. He always said that if you treat the batter right, the food will come out fine. So we stick to that. We start early, around 7 or 8, and keep going until the dough runs out or it's time to lock up. It’s a quiet life, mostly, just serving food to people who live nearby. It’s not fancy but it’s ours, and that is enough for us.
