Kanchan Jewellery & Gift Emporium

Kanchan Jewellery & Gift Emporium is located at number 15 in Vikhroli East. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. We decided to do both jewellery and gifts because that’s what people in the neighborhood were asking for. Most of the jewellery is the kind you'd wear for a local function or a small gathering. It’s not a big fancy showroom. We have glass counters that we spend way too much time cleaning every day because of the fingerprints. The gift side of the shop has everything from small ornaments to bigger pieces for the home. Vikhroli East is a quieter part of the city compared to some, but we still have our busy spells. Usually, the afternoons are slow, and that’s when I do the inventory or fix any displays that have been knocked over. We don't have a big staff. It's just a couple of us who know the stock well. We aren't interested in being a chain or opening more branches. This one shop keeps us busy enough. Sometimes people come in just to browse and end up talking for half an hour about the neighborhood news. We like that. It feels more like a community spot than just a business. We don't have any fancy mission statements; we just keep the doors open six days a week and see who drops by.
