Kalpana Asthana

This is our small space on Bank Road in Malad East, right at number N 10. It’s a busy street, so there’s always noise coming in from outside, but we’ve gotten used to it over time. I usually get here around nine to open up the shutters and start looking through the mail. The office isn't very large, just enough room for a few chairs and the filing cabinets that seem to get fuller every month. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a bit now, and we know most of the people who walk past every morning. Sometimes neighbors just pop their heads in to say hello while they're out running errands. It’s a simple setup, nothing too modern or flashy. We spend most of the day at the desks, handling whatever comes through the door. The light isn't great in the back room, so we mostly stay near the front window where we can see the street. It’s a steady kind of work, nothing too exciting but it keeps us on our toes. Sometimes the rain makes the road a bit of a mess, but that’s just life in Malad for you. We just keep doing what we do, day in and day out, and try to stay organized with our folders and ledger books. It’s a quiet place to get things done, even with the traffic outside. We don't have any fancy signs or big lights outside. It's just a simple door with our name on it. Often we find ourselves staying a bit late to catch up on paperwork.
