Shop No 1 at Jay Apartments has been our home for quite some time now. Borivali West is a fast place, but 18th Road has its own rhythm. We see the same faces every morning. Mostly, we are busy with laundry and dry cleaning. The machines run all day. It gets warm inside, especially in the summer. We keep the hangers organized by name. Sometimes there’s a mix-up with a shirt, but we fix it fast. It's just a small team here. We don't have a big corporate setup. It's just us and the ironing boards. The neighborhood around Asho and Jay Raj Nagar is quiet compared to the main road. We like that. My cousin helps out on weekends. We've seen kids grow up and bring their own clothes here now. It’s funny how time goes. We don't use fancy apps for everything. A lot of it is still written down in the big ledger. It works for us. People drop off their heavy blankets or wedding clothes. We treat everything the same way. The shop is small, so we have to be smart with space. You can find us right near the corner. If the shutters are up, we're working. We usually finish the last pressing around eight at night and then head home to have dinner with our families. It’s a lot of manual work but it keeps us connected to everyone on the street.
