Our workshop is up on the first floor of the Vikram building, Shop No 101, right in Mulund East. It isn't a massive showroom with bright lights, just a place where we sit and work on designs and fabrics most of the day. You can hear the hum of the sewing machines as soon as you step off the stairs. We have rolls of cloth leaning against the walls and scraps of thread on the floor because that is just what happens when you’re cutting and sewing all day. The windows look out over the street, but we don't spend much time looking out of them. There is always a pile of sketches on the table and some half-finished pieces hanging on the racks. It gets a bit warm in the afternoons, especially when all the equipment is running at once. We don't have fancy furniture for guests, just a few stools and a big table where we do all the measurements. Sometimes the iron stays on too long and the room gets humid, but we are used to it by now. People from around Mulund know where we are, even if the sign outside is a little faded from the sun. We just focus on the work in front of us and try to get things done on time. It is a noisy, busy, and honest way to spend the day. There is usually tea being shared around four o'clock while we take a quick break before finishing up.
