Navi Mumbai's industrial zone is quite a stretch. We are over in the Hasti Industrial Estate at MIDC Mahape. Our units, 22 and 23, are right there on Plot R-798. It is a busy area with a lot of trucks coming in and out from the main road. We have a fair amount of space here, but it always seems to get filled up with crates and packing materials. The staff mostly keeps to themselves, focusing on whatever is on the schedule for that day. It isn't a place for tourists or anything. Most of the people who walk through our door are delivery drivers or people from other units nearby looking for a tool or some help. We have a small office section where the paperwork gets handled, but most of the action is on the floor. The lights stay on pretty late some nights when a big shipment is expected. It’s a lot of manual work, moving things around and making sure the labels are right. We don't bother with much decoration. The walls are plain and the floor is concrete. It gets the job done. Lunch breaks are usually taken out by the front gate or at the small stall down the lane. It’s just the daily routine of keeping a business running in a place like Mahape. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the sheer volume of boxes makes it hard.
