Jolly Vishal Novelty

The Shivalaya Shopping Centre is where we are, at unit number 41463. It’s in the New Vadaj area of Chembur, which is a bit of a walk from the main gate. Jolly Vishal Novelty is full of all kinds of things you might need for a house party or just for daily use. We have rows of metal shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. I have to use a small wooden ladder almost every day just to reach the stuff at the top for customers. The lighting in this part of the shopping centre isn’t the best, so we had to put some extra bulbs in our unit to see better. It’s usually busiest on the weekends when families are out shopping together. We see a lot of kids pointing at the toys and small trinkets we keep near the front. Chembur can get very humid in the rainy season, so the air inside the shop feels a bit heavy. We’ve been in this same spot for a few years now. The neighbors in the other units are nice and we usually share some tea during the slow hours in the afternoon. We don’t have a big staff here, just us making sure the items stay somewhat organized. It’s hard to keep everything in its place when people are constantly picking things up and putting them back on the wrong shelf.
