Jilani Interiors

Jilani Interiors operates out of Shop Number 88 C on Maulana Azad Road, right near the Mumbai Central head office. Being in such a central location means we see a lot of people every day. Our shop is usually filled with samples and scraps from various projects we are working on at any given time. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes, but it’s our space and we know where everything is kept. We spend a lot of time out at job sites, but this shop is where we come back to plan things out and meet with folks. It’s a noisy street with cars honking and people shouting, but that’s just the background music to our day. We don't have a polished showroom with bright lights and fancy carpets. Most of our work is discussed over a simple table with some rough sketches and a tape measure. We are practical people who understand how to make things fit in small spaces, which is very important here in Mumbai. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years, but our shop stays pretty much the same. We aren't interested in being the biggest company in the city; we just want to do decent work that we can be okay with at the end of the day. It’s a living, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday without much of a break.
