Jayesh M Goswami

Chira Bazar is one of those places that never really sleeps. My spot at number 389 is right in the thick of it. Every morning, I have to navigate through the carts and the delivery trucks just to get to the door. It is an old area, and you can feel that history in the floors and the way the doors creak. Jayesh M Goswami has been at this address for a long time. I keep the place tidy, but it is a struggle with all the dust from the street. I have a small fan that runs all day because it gets quite warm in the afternoons. The people who come by are usually in a hurry, which is just the way things are in Mumbai. I do not have any big fancy equipment, just what is necessary to get the work finished. I often talk to the other shop owners about the weather or the local news while we wait for deliveries. It is a very practical way to live. There is not much room for extras here. Every square inch of 389 is used for something. I like the energy of the market, even if it is exhausting some days. When the sun goes down, the lights come on and the whole place looks different. It is just a regular life here, nothing like what you see in the movies. It is hard work but it is my life.
